Details about this event:
Looking Forward to Looking Back
Back in 1995 the Club celebrated it’s Centenary year with major events and a Centenary Dinner
- planning for which started 10 years prior and after conducting a survey that indicated in
excess of 600 people wished to attend.
Times have changed but we still know how to Celebrate in Style and so 25 years on, we are holding another weekend of special events - the main spectacle being a Gala Ball.
The date has been carefully chosen as this is traditionally the day of the Club Challenge Bowl - one of the oldest trophies in the Club but unfortunately is men only.
So in these days of equality, we will be holding the Cooper Cup - the oldest trophy in the Club and open to everyone.
It is also the anniversary of the first General Meeting of the Club which took place on the 23rd May 1896. At the time the entrance fee was two guineas and the annual subscription one guinea.
The Board of Directors hope that everyone will join in the weekend of celebrations with varying events for all members or perhaps come to all three. Teeing off with the golf in the day and then a black tie Gala Ball in the evening - using a marquee and stage over the terrace that is being erected especially for the weekend - just in case the weather lets us down.
