Monday, 17th August
Monday teed off with a 4-ball stableford competition, where the best two scores counted for each hole. The winning team scored an amazing 95 points. Neil Macrae-Smith, Andy Hockey, Rob Long and Joe Martin were there to collect their prizes. Malcolm Boucher, Ray Burkwood, John Copeland and Phil Townsend were just behind in second place with 94 points. The best mixed team consisted of Claire Vaughan, Jemma Jackson, Ben Osborne and Scotty Boyle on 87 points. The best ladies team had Barbara Thorpe, Caroline Gard, Ginny Richardson and Deborah Tanner with 79 points.

Hills Prospect donated the prizes of fine wines and Champagne.

Tuesday, 18th August
Tuesday was a 3-ball stableford where various combinations of scores counted. The winning team on count back comprised of Chelsey Duffy, Peter Irwin and Chris Hemingway with 82 points. They were just ahead of Peter Outtridge, Graham Bowen and Stuart Macdonald. The best Ladies team comprised of Angela Low, Marie Ellis and Phillipa Sanderson with a score of 79. Ian Watts. Louise Wood and Karen Wright were the best mixed team with 75 points.

The day was sponsored by Silverton Aggregates who supplied terrific prizes.

Wednesday, 19th August
Ellisons Solicitors sponsored the Leslie Holloway Cup 4BBB on Wednesday. The morning players had an advantage as the weather started out fine, with the rain coming in around 2pm. Malcolm King and Leo Knifton persevered, winning it on count back with a fine score of 47 stableford points, just ahead of Joan Oakford and D. Jobanputra. Murray Northover and guest D. Clarke were third on count back with 46 points.

In conclusion, Ellisons’ Senior Partner Guy Longhurst presented the generous prizes and pledged to continue their support in a very witty and amusing speech.

Thursday, 20th August
The Ladies Invitational took place on Thursday, hosted by Lady Captain, Viv Stansfield and sponsored by Townrow. The tradition is that the ladies invite the gents, and the format is mixed foursomes. Four teams finished with 39 points, so on count back Sarah and Geoff Taylor were named winners. Sister and brother Louise Davey and James Taggart were in second place. Third went to Marie Ellis and Simon Martin-Redman, just ahead of Jemma Jackson and David Partridge.

Richard and Ann Townrow awarded the generous prizes. It was good to see them back.

Friday, 21st August
And finally, Friday was a teams-of-4 Texas Scramble with morning and afternoon starts. The wind was particularly brutal, making the going even more difficult. Jamie Redden, Liam Wilson, Peter Irwin and Tig Tanner were the winners with a score of 61.1. Second place went to Paul Mutton, Ed Glease, Dick Groves and Rob Trotman with 62.7. The best mixed team comprised Diane Gerrard, Rob Morgan, Peter Webster and Mark Grover with 64.1. And finally, Ginny Richardson, Judy Taylor, Loraine Motion and Caroline Gard were the best ladies’ team with 73.1.

Justin Osborne from sponsor Stabilised Pavements handed out the generous prizes.

Greens Double cut and ironed, bunkers raked and holes moved. Front,middle, back sequence . Preferred lies are to remain in bunkers but updated to WITHIN 6 INCHES no nearer the hole while keeping within the hazard. Limited bins are available every three holes. To use the ball lifters once the ball has dropped in the hole, please GENTLY LIFT with your putter.
