At Frinton GC on Saturday, 12th September, Peter Gard hosted his Captain’s Day in perfect late-summer weather, with sunshine and a light breeze. Rob Long and Darren Wells were awarded second place and third place went to Paul Street and David Hansom with 44 points.

Frinton ladies played a lot of golf last week. There were two competitions held simultaneously on Tuesday: the Goadby Cup, a bogey/par event, and the Franklin Cup, a stableford.

Claire Vaughan won the Goadby Cup on count back with a score of 1, just ahead of Marilyn Clarke. Sarah Fryer was third, again on count back, with a score of 0, just beating out Caroline Gard.

Deborah Tanner won the Franklin Cup with an amazing 42 stableford points. Barbara Thorpe was second with 39 points and Sandra Balderston came in third with 37 points.

And on Thursday, the weather couldn’t have been better for the Granny’s Cup. Deborah Tanner had another spectacular day, winning the Cup with 39 points. Sarah Taylor was in second place with 38 points. Several ladies scored 34, with Maria Naden awarded third place on count back.
