Frinton ladies played a fun greensomes match on Tuesday in another day of bright sunshine and chilly north easterly winds. Barbara Thorpe and Lynne Smith had a remarkable score of 43 points to win it. Second place went to Marie Gibson and Jill Haines, just behind them with 42. And Sandra Balderston and Sarah Taylor carded 39 to come in third.

Essex Pros played the Essex Amateurs at Frinton GC on Thursday, which the Amateurs won 8 ½ to 6 ½. James Gurry, formerly a Frinton junior player, is now the Essex Pro Captain. His team had 2 halves in very close fought matches. Ross Dee, the longest serving Essex Pro, scored a hole in one on the 13th to win his match. Ben Humphrey was the Amateurs captain.

Neil Hawkes organised the St. George’s Day match on Saturday for the 21st year in a row. It was a great day, with the Exiles beating the Patriots 7/6. Fifty seven men sat down afterward for an amazing lunch prepared by chef James Oxley and staff.

And finally on Sunday, it was all gents for the Gents and Ladies Medal played in more bright sunshine and stiff winds off the sea. Simon Brown was well out in front, winning it with a score of 66 nett. Jack Bruce finished second with his 71. And seven men netted 76, with Adam Miles awarded third place on count back.
