Frinton ladies played a fun stableford on Tuesday in bright sun, but chilly northerly winds. The winning combination proved to be Angela Vaughan, Donna Oliver and Claire Vaughan with a nett score of 64. Marilyn Clarke, Barbara Thorpe and Sarah Fryer were close on their heels in second place with 65. Several teams finished with 67 points, whilst Marie Ellise, Ginny Richardson and Judy Taylor were awarded third on count back.
There were lots of competitive events on Bank Holiday Weekend. First up was a Friday stableford open to all Havers Course members. Graham Bowden won it with a score of 41 points. Patrick Fennelly placed second just behind the winner with 40 points. Third place went to Christopher Paxon with 39.
The Ladies and Gents stableford on Saturday had a full field. Again the scores were good, reflecting the condition of the course and the better weather. Robert Newton’s 41 won it with Rob Whitbread coming in second with 40. Simon Brown nosed out Jamie Hearn on count back with 39 points for third place. Donna Oliver had the best ladies score with 35 points.
And finally it was the traditional Spring Bank Holiday event on Monday, the Bob Turner Foursomes, a stableford competition with a maximum handicap of 24. In probably the best weather of the weekend, the sun shone on Kevin Jenkins and Wayne De’ath who won it with a handy 41 points. John Sowton and Alan Morrison carded 39 to come in second. And Paul Mutton and Ed Glease’s 38 put them third.
