The ladies Harris Bowl Team had another impressive win 3 to 2 against Benton Hall on Monday, played at home in Frinton in constant rain.

Yvonne Davies, Frinton’s Lady Captain, hosted her Spring Meeting last Tuesday. Unfortunately the ladies experienced all types of inclement weather from soaking rain, to hail, to a thunder storm, making the competition all the more challenging.

Michelle Lawton and Ginny Richardson showed their mettle, winning the 4BBB on count back with an amazing score of 43, just ahead of second place Barbara Thorpe and Lynne Smith.

The Sarah's Taylor and Fryer were third, again on count back just behind with 42 points. Yvonne Davies and Tracy Taylor were fourth. Caroline Grey won the putting competition in a playoff with Loraine Motion and Sheran Harding.

Bush Hill GV, a fellow 1895 club visited Frinton for the away match. Frinton raced to a victory in the home match 6 ½ to 3 ½. When the away match scores were included, the final result was still a Frinton win 10 ½ to 9 ½. One of the most remarkable results was the 4 & 2 win by George Greenwood and Allan Hickey who have a combined age of 165 years. Well played gents.

It was different weather entirely for the last-Friday-of-the-month stableford open to all Havers Course members. The sun shone brightly on winner Jack Moutell who scored 41 points. Jeffrey Morgan carded 40 to come in second. And Sarah Fryer had another good day with her third place 38.

On Saturday the final of the Bill Cook Salver (Winter League knockout) took place. Father and son team Murray and George Northover verses Steven Deacon and Simon Hatt. After a great battle Steven and Simon found victory.

Also on Saturday was a Harris Bowl match away at Ilford. With another victory to the Ladies team 3&2. Caddie and driver Robin Bond informs me the match went to the final hole with Marie Gibson securing the win.

Well played to everyone and good luck in the competitions in the following days.
