Frinton-on-Sea Golf club achieved the GOLFMARK award in September 2016.
The award was presented to Frinton Golf Club by Helen Tarttelin, Essex County Development Officer.

Frinton-on-Sea Golf Club first in Essex to win national award
Frinton-on-Sea Golf club in Essex, which is backing the drive to grow the game, is the first golf club in Essex to win the national GolfMark award from England Golf.
GolfMark is England Golf’s official seal of approval for clubs successfully working to develop their business in such ways as:
• Attracting new members and encouraging existing members to play more
• Using practical business planning to develop the club
• Offering appropriate coaching and playing opportunities for all standards of golfer
• Ensuring all necessary safeguarding policies are in place for the junior section
Frinton Golf Club was founded in 1895 and boasts a fantastic 18-hole seaside Havers course designed by the famous course architect Harry S Colt and a 9-hole par 30 Kirby course. The club whilst traditional, is modern in its outlook and offers a variety of membership opportunities which appeal to the regular golfer, beginner or social golfer.
Frinton is a popular destination for holiday golfers, casual green fee golfers and societies and are all are equally welcome at this very hospitable club.
Equally the club prides itself on having a great team of PGA professional coaches, who engage with the local community offering a variety of creative coaching offers to attract juniors and beginner adult golfers.
Frinton Golf Club is part of England Golf’s Get into golf scheme and offers affordable coaching opportunities aimed at beginners in group sessions from £20 for four week courses. When players are ready, they can join as 9-hole members on the established Kirby course at a discounted price for two years. This membership provides beginners and improvers with coaching and playing opportunities on the 9-hole course helping to transfer their newly found skills from the driving range into actual playing.
The club also has a thriving junior section with regular coaching opportunities for both members and non-members and a great selection of year-round playing and competition opportunities for the youngsters.

Achieving the England Golf GolfMark shows that we are a club for all age groups and it recognises the hard work and huge strides we have made to develop golf in our area. GolfMark gives us the disciplines to continue to improve and attract new members and golfers and the club owes a huge debt to Peter Taggart, Roy Stevenson and Colin Marsh for getting us across the line first.”
Peter Taggart, Head PGA Professional said “I am delighted that Frinton Golf Club has been awarded the England Golf GolfMark award and this is thanks to a lot of hard work by members of the golf team, and club members Roy Stevenson and Colin Marsh. This is the beginning of a new initiative to move the club forward in terms of attracting new members and golfers and making golf accessible to more and more people throughout East Anglia.
The award was presented to Frinton Golf Club by Helen Tarttelin, Essex County Development Officer, who commented:

The GolfMark award was developed by England Golf and also integrates Sport England’s Clubmark award - a national standard for quality sports clubs recognised across the country.
