Friday saw the beginning of Junior Golf Weekend at Frinton GC. There were lots of events over 3 days, allowing the juniors to compete on both the Kirby and Havers courses.
Earlier in the week, proving that Frinton is indeed "a club for all ages", the Seniors took on the Juniors in the Yansy Cup challenge. The age difference between at least one set of opponents was as much as 70 years. Despite some close matches, in the end the Juniors prevailed, winning it 4-1 and retaining the trophy. Seniors captain Chris Sims said "Weíll try harder next year".
The first competition on Friday was the lady captainís team v the juniors. The result was a draw. As the juniors won it last year, they retain the trophy.
Friday evening saw the adult/junior event over 9 holes on the Kirby Course. It was won by Paul and George Sachs with 22 points.
The Golf Foundation Foursomes was played on the Havers Course on Saturday. The indomitable team of Lily Taylor and Stuart Grimwade won it on countback with 41 stableford points. Jemma Jackson and Gavin Cowell were awarded second place. And Scotty Boyle and Hamish Stubbs were in third place with 36 points.
Also on Saturday, the Kirby course juniors played for the Havers trophy against Colne Valley and Millerís Barn. It was a good day for the home team. Frinton won it.
And on Sunday there was a Texas Scramble over 9 holes on the Kirby course. Lily Taylor continued her winning streak with the help of her parents Chris and Tracey Taylor and teammate Isobel McInness. They won it with a nett score of 33.1. In second place were Simon and Harvey Harrison, and Matt and Albie Oxley.
