It was a full field on Saturday for the 5-man (and women) Texas Scramble event to raise money for the Bursary in aid of juniors and others in need. It felt like the first day of summer with hazy sun and very little wind. The scoring was reflective of the conditions. There were 2 categories of competitors. In the mixed section, the winners were the team of lady captain Angela Vaughan and her children Claire, Andrew and Stephan along with Sheran Harding. They scored 56.4 nett. The menís winners were Murray Northover, Simon Partridge, Ed Glease, Steve Davies and John Warner with 54.9 nett. Last yearís winning team of Graeme Dodds, Andrew Bailey, Justine Osborne, Adam Ellis and Tony Nicholas came in second with 55 nett. Arthur Haversí nephew Vernon awarded the prizes. Lunch followed with some very small but smart-looking juniors serving.
ALSO THIS WEEK:
In the 4th round of the Daily Mail foursomes, Frintonís Caroline Gard and partner Jan Wright had a victory against Barbara Connolly and Sheila Mines from Benton Hall. They won it 3 and 2. It was a close match throughout and played in good spirits.

In second place with 29 points were the team of Joan Horner and Caroline Grey. Tracey Taylor and Sheila Attrill were in third place with 27 points after a very strong front 9.
The Junior section has been very active of late. In the Lavinia Evelyn Jones trophy, Lily Taylor won the event with a 67 nett. Jamie Sach was in second place with 72 nett. Their points will count in the boys and girls club championship competitions.
