The recent heavy downpours may have made the Frinton greens somewhat soggy, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of recent competition winners. Lily Taylor and Michelle Lawton (in the photo) won their Hunter Foursomes county match 3&4 against Channels, which puts them through to the quarter finals.

The Thornton Cup Plate team were awarded a ‘walkover’ in their last match, so they go on to face Benton Hall in the quarter finals.

And the Norman Plum team drew 3 – 3 with Colchester but sadly lost their 4th round match on count back. Well done and commiserations to captain Nigel Anderson and his team.

Before the storms, the ladies enjoyed a fine day to compete for the Franklin Cup, a stapleford event for those with handicaps 25 and above. Ginny Richardson won it with 35 points. Sheila Attrill came in second with 33. Caroline Gard and Jan McLellan both scored 31 points, with Gard awarded third place on countback.

Unfortunately several events had to be cancelled or rescheduled due to the weather, but most of the course remained open for play on the weekend.
