Frinton Golf Week News

Frinton Golf Week officially kicked off on Saturday, with the Golf Week Medal on the Havers Course.
It was an 18-hole strokeplay off the blue tees, with a full field of 66 participants. The men played for two trophies.
The Centenary Medal for the best gross score was won by Kevin Smith, with a 71. Simon Partridge won the Robinson Medal for the best nett score of 68. Jason Nicholls also finished with a 71 gross, in second place on countback. Second place for nett score went to Stuart Summers, on countback, with a score of 70.

On Sunday, the Family Foursomes took place on the Havers Course.
The father and son team of Jason and Daniel Nicholls won with 37 points.
Another father and son team, David and Adrian Joshua, were in second place with 36 points and Liam and Richard Wilson came in with a 34 to take third. There was a special category for ‘out of handicap status’ and Luke and Jeannie Nokes won it with 37 points.
Craig and Ian Robinson were second, with 35.

Over on the Kirby Course, members and guests vied for the Grimwade Trophy.
In the members' category, Simon and Harvey O’Brien won the trophy on countback with 18 points.
Viv Stansfield and Michael Pope were awarded second place.
In the non-members' category, it was a good day for the Sach family.
Sara and Frankie Sach were in first place, with Paul Wilkins and George Sach second.

Monday was generously sponsored by Hills Prospect, with lots of wonderful prizes.
It was a four-man team event with two scores to count, including the designated player.
Leo Knifton, Paul Marsh, Adrian Joshua and Bruce Matthews won with 87 points.
Second place went to Luke Brown, Alan Keyte, Nigel Anderson and Lily Taylor, with 84.
Third place was awarded on countback to Peter Outtridge, Ian Low, Neil Hawkes and Brian Evans, with 80.
The best ladies' team scored 75 points and the team members were Caroline Gard, Ginny Richardson, Barbara Thorpe and Michelle Lawton.

On the Kirby Course there was an 18-hole single stableford and Viv Stansfield won it with 40 points.
Tom Wright was in second place with 37 and Marianne Kelly placed third with 34.
