The gents played for the University Shield on Saturday, an 18-hole medal event with a maximum handicap of 24. Hamish Stubbs won the trophy with a 67 nett. Vince McAuley continued in his recent fine form, finishing in second place with 69 nett, thereby reducing his handicap a point to 14.0. And James Taggart was in third place with 70.

The ladies played on Tuesday in a foursomes event in severe conditions high force northerly winds made the playing very difficult. There were as many no returns as scores turned in. Congratulations to the winning team of Lady captain Angela Vaughan and her daughter Joanne Simons for persevering and obtaining a respectable score of 31 points. Two teams came in with 29 points, with Audrey Joshua and Joan Horner awarded second place, just ahead of Jane Quick and Helen Barr.
