It was a full field for the Sunday stableford incorporating the Past Captain’s Trophy. Sixty two players enjoyed the sunshine and perfect conditions. The event is an 18-hole competition for past captains of FGC and other clubs if they are currently members of Frinton. Stuart Grimwade won the trophy with 42 points. Grimwade was club captain in 1996. David Partridge had the highest stableford score of the day with 44. And Andrew Bailey was in second place with 43 points.
The ladies played a stableford competition on Tuesday in warm weather and very little wind for a change. Yvonne Davies won it with a respectable score of 39 points. Margaret Dean continued her fine form of late, coming in second place with 37 points. And Jan Wright took third with a score of 35.
The summer knockout Storey Cup final was played this week. Scotty Boyle took the trophy, winning it 2&1 against Kevin Smith. Poor Smith – he shot a 69 gross and still lost!
