The field was full for the RNLI Stableford last weekend. Fifty four gents and ladies competed on a bright sunny day to benefit the Lifeboats charity. Toby Oliver won it with a very respectable 41 points. His handicap was swiftly reduced. Roly Brockman came in second place on countback with 40 points, with Julia Walshaw awarded third, also with 40 points. Her handicap suffered the same fate as Oliverís.
In the Daily Mail Foursomes for men, John Sowton brought in a new in-form partner Mark Smith, winning it, as well as the Frank Thompson Trophy, with a 67. Sowton and Smith will now go forward to represent Frinton GC in the 2018 Daily Mail Foursomes knock-out competition. Peter Outtridge and Stuart Grimwade finished second on 69, with the experienced pairing of Iain Quick and Ian Chamberlain taking third place on 70.
Linda Hayles won the Ladies Veterans Trophy with a very impressive 40 points, pipping Diane Gerrard on countback. Joan Stevensn took the Ladies Vintage Trophy with a score of 34 points. And Mary Strutt won the Ladies Ancients Trophy with a 10-hole total of 23 points.
In the Ladies 13th EWGA Medal, Yvonne Davies won it with a 2-under par score of 71. Linda Hayles came second with on 72 nett, with Sheran Harding and Jane Quick finishing third and fourth respectively with 73 nett.
And finally, David Killick won the post Golf Week stableford with 40 points. Bill Burns came second on 38 points, beating Rob Long and Steve Phillips on countback.
