Happy New Year
The first stableford competition of the year open to all Havers Course members took place last Sunday. Some 36 souls braved the high winds for what proved to be very tough going. However Liam Wilson proved his mettle, winning it with 32 points. Three men finished with 30 points, with Simon Partridge awarded second place on count back, ahead of Gary Bishop and Mark Lee. The ladies wisely sat this one out.
However on their day, the ladies played a ‘threesomes waltz’ over 10 holes in much more favourable conditions. This format involves various combinations of scores counting. The winning team consisted of Helen Barr, Margaret Dean and Linda Hayles with a combined score of 41. Second place on 39 points went to Angela Vaughan, Diane Gerrard and Joan Stevenson. And the team of Mary Johnson, Maria Naden and Rosemary Rouse finished third with 35 points.
