FROM THE CHAIRMAN
On behalf of all our members, I would like to thank Lynda Boland and all her ‘green fingered’ helpers for the wonderful display of hanging baskets and tubs on our terrace. It is a pleasure to sit out there and I can confidently say that the terrace has never looked better.
FROM THE LADY CAPTAIN – MARILYN CLARKE
Congratulations to all those who have played in the Ladies Bronze matches. We are now in the quarter finals and will play Three Rivers at Stoke by Nayland on 20th July. The tee off is 11.00 am and we would very much welcome caddies and supporters.
The Ladies Section is holding a Silent Auction to help raise funds for new toilet facilities on the Havers Course. The Auction will be on Tuesday, 17th July and the ladies hope that as many people as possible will come and support this cause. Members have been very generous in their donations for the Auction and all the items will be displayed in the Trophy Room on Monday, 16th July when people can leave a bid for anything that takes their interest. The Auction will be concluded at 2 pm.
The Seniors team are still looking for their first away win of the season, a series of home and away matches against other local clubs. After taking a heavy beating at Colchester, better things were expected at Harwich; unfortunately, the improved performance was still not good enough and Harwich took the match by 5 games to 3.
The fate of the Martini Cup (a Stableford event where the best 2 scores count from 3 possible returns) was sealed with a resounding win for Richard Lewis. He finished well ahead of the field with Kevin Jenkins taking second place and Roy Stevenson third.
A GOLF WEEK REQUEST FOR THE OFFICE
We are desperately in need of raffle prizes for Golf Week, so if any member can contribute to the cause, the Captains would be extremely grateful, and all contributions should be taken to the office.
