Some 40 men participated in a stableford competition at Finton GC on Sunday in hot sun and little wind. Despite the sub-tropical conditions, winner Frazier Maleary had a good score of 42 points. His handicap was promptly reduced by 2 shots. Andy Hipkin was in second place with 39 points. And Simon Partridge finished on third with 38.
It was another scorcher when the ladies played in the Daily Mail Foursomes on their day. Lynne Smith and Chelsey Duffy won the medal format with a 79 nett. They may be eligible to go on to another round. Yvonne Davies and Lyn Lawrence were in second place with a score of 80 nett. And Angela Low and Mary Strutt were awarded third on count back with 84, just ahead of Caroline Grey and Marie Ellis.
All good practice for Frinton Golf Week which commences with a men’s medal on Saturday.
