Lady Captain Marilyn Clarke hosted her Autumn Meeting at Frinton GC last week. It was a perfect day for it – warm sun with a light breeze. The morning format was 3-ball singles stableford over 9 holes. Judith Little won it with 21 points. Diane Gerrard came in second with 18 points. Deborah Tanner was nearest the pin on the 6th hole, with Sandra Balderston closest on the 13th.

The ladies played a further 18 holes in the afternoon in teams of 4 with 2 scores to count on each hole.
The winners were Marilyn Clarke, Jane Quick, Helen Barr and Jemma Jackson with an amazing total of 89 points. Coming in second with 80 points were Angela Vaughan, Sheran Harding, Lynn Smith and Marilyn Smith.
The team of Joan Horner, Deborah Tanner, Rosemary Rouse and Patricia Freear had 77 to finish in third place.
The men played the last Friday of the month stableford. Hamish Stubbs won it with 37 points, reducing his handicap to 3. John Rodda finished in second place with 36 points. Two men had 35 points, with Paul Southgate awarded third, just ahead of Wayne Ross.
And finally, there were a couple of age-related trophies to play for on Wednesday.
Paul Marsh was the over-80s winner with 38 stableford points.
And Keith Cattermole won the over-70s trophy with 36 points.
Overall, Steve Phillips came in second with 37 points.
